Scenic Creek Becomes A Flood Menace In Harvard
They purchased the home because of the scenic meandering creek that wound its way through the back of their property. Little did the client know, but when the latest storm washed through their area, this meandering creek would become a raging swollen muddy river of water. The client watched the water come closer and closer to their home until it finally rose over the doorway and into their home. The highest point in their home was about four inches, which left a dirty brown muddy mess everywhere.
The client called SERVPRO about what to do regarding flood damage in her Harvard home before the flood waters entered her home. She was looking for tips about what to do. The team member she spoke to suggested the following to limit the damage:
• Remove area carpets and rugs to a safe place
• Remove all cushions and furniture to a dry location
• Move loose items to higher a higher location in the home
• Disconnect all electrical items such as TV's and Lamps and remove if possible
She followed SERVPRO's suggestions and was able to save a great deal of her furniture. Also, the small items that might have been ruined if she had left them in place. She called our team to respond to her flooded home as soon as the waters receded and we responded immediately.
